In 2003 a Sister City relationship with Vinnytsia was formalized. Our ongoing medical, cultural and religous exchanges with this city has generated many volunteers and an already active membership.
We also signed a Friendship agreement with Krasnodon. Birmingham and Krasnodon have been linked through the US-Ukraine Foundation Community Partnership Program for 8 years. Extensive professional exchanges are involved with this relationship.
We have also received a grants to host Open World delegations from Ukraine and maintain regular people to people and informational exchanges with Vinnytsia. We have hosted the last three Ukrainian Ambassadors to the USA and Scotty Colson is Honorary consul from Ukraine to Alabama. In 2017 Birmingham won the SCI Humanitarian award for the ongoing medical humanitarian shipments to Ukraine to bring relief to the Donbas.
